Endodontics – Root canal treatment
Endodontic treatment or root canal is the treatment done to the inside of the tooth. It is necessary when the pulp becomes inflamed or infected. There can be a variety of causes like deep decay inside the teeth, often dental procedures undertaken on the tooth, improper / faulty crowns, or a crack or chip in the tooth. In addition, trauma to a tooth may cause pulp damage even if the tooth has no visible chips or cracks. If that pulp inflammation and / or infection is untreated for a while, it can cause pain or lead to an abscess.
During root canal or endodontic treatment, the inflamed or infected pulp is removed and the inside of the tooth is carefully cleaned and disinfected, then filled and sealed with a rubber-like material called gutta-percha. later on, the tooth is affixed with a crown or filling for protection. After restoration, the tooth continues to function like any other tooth.
Endodontic treatment gives you a natural smile and allows you to continue eating the foods you love and limits the need for ongoing dental work. With proper care, most teeth that have had root canal treatment can last a lifetime.
Periodontics – Gum treatment
An inflammation on the gum line that affects the bone and the surrounds of your teeths is known as a Gum disease. The three stages of gum disease — from least to most severe — are gingivitis, periodontitis and advanced periodontitis.
Signs & Symptoms:
The Disease in Gums can be painless. Hence, it is very important to be know of the following symptoms:
Swollen, red, tender or bleeding gums
Gums that recede or move away from the tooth
Persistent bad breath or bad taste in mouth
Visible pus surrounding the teeth and gums
The main goal of treatment is to control the infection. There are various types of treatments which varies, depending on the extent of the gum disease. The dentist removes the plaque through a deep-cleaning method called scaling and root planing. Scaling is nothing but scraping off the tartar from all over the gum line. Root planing allows you to remove the rough spots on the root of the tooth where the germs are gathered, this helps remove bacteria that contributes to the disease.
Implantology – Dental implants
A Dental Implant is a tooth root, placed surgically under the gum line into the jawbone that allows your dentist to mount replacement teeth or a bridge into that area. An implant doesn’t come loose like a denture can. Dental implants benefits to general oral health of the teeth because they do not have to be anchored to other teeth, like bridges.
Prosthodontics – Dental bridges and crowns
Bridges and crowns are fixed prosthetic devices that are cemented onto existing teeth or implants. Crowns are used most commonly to entirely cover or “cap” a damaged tooth or cover an implant. Commonly, Bridges are used to cover a space if you are missing with one or more teeth. They are cemented to natural teeth or implants surrounding the space where the tooth once stood.
In addition to strengthining the damaged tooth, It is also used to improve a tooth’s appearance, shape, alignment and dental occlusion (bite). Gaps left by missing teeth can cause the remaining teeth to shift, which can result in a bad bite. Bridges and crowns help prevent this from happening.
Pediatric Dentistry – Children Dentistry
