A dental implant is a small titanium post placed in the jawbone to replace the root of a missing tooth. Once it has bonded with the bone, it holds a crown, a bridge or a denture that looks and works like natural teeth. Who are dental implants for?

Implants can be a good option if you have lost one tooth, several teeth or all of your teeth in a jaw, and you want a fixed result that does not rely on the neighbouring teeth. You will usually need:

  • Healthy gums, or gum disease that has been treated first
  • Enough bone to hold the implant, or a bone graft to rebuild it
  • General health that allows minor oral surgery and healing

Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medicines can slow healing. Tell us about your health and medicines at the consultation so the plan is safe for you.

Single tooth implant

One implant with one crown, without filing down the teeth on either side.

Implants hold a full denture in place, so it does not move when you eat or speak.

Step by step

The implant process, step by step

  1. Consultation and scan

    We examine your mouth, take X-rays or a 3D scan, check the bone and explain your options.

  2. Treatment plan

    You receive a written plan with the number of implants, the type of restoration, the timeline and the cost.

  3. Implant placement

    The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most patients describe the discomfort afterwards as similar to an extraction.

  4. Healing

    The implant bonds with the bone over roughly two to six months. A temporary tooth can often be fitted in the meantime.

  5. Final crown or bridge

    We take an impression or digital scan and fit a custom crown, bridge or denture matched to your other teeth.

Looking after your implants

Brush twice a day, clean between the teeth with floss or interdental brushes, and keep your regular check-ups and cleanings. Implants cannot decay, but the gum and bone around them can become inflamed if plaque builds up. With good care, implants can last for many years.

Questions about dental implants

Does getting an implant hurt?

The area is numbed with local anaesthetic, so you should feel pressure rather than pain. Some soreness and swelling for a few days afterwards is normal and is usually managed with ordinary painkillers.

How long does the whole treatment take?

Most single implants take three to six months from placement to the final crown. Bone grafting or several implants can make it longer. Your plan will give you a timeline.

Can I get an implant if I lost the tooth years ago?

Often, yes. The bone can shrink after a tooth is lost, so we check the bone on a scan. If there is not enough, a bone graft may be needed first.

What are the alternatives?

A fixed bridge on the neighbouring teeth or a removable denture. We will explain the pros and cons of each option for your situation.

I have started my orthodontist treatment with Dr. Amritha 1 year ago and I am very satisfied with the results. She had very professional approach and well skilled orthodontist. They have 3 branches all over Dubai and that’s I haven’t experienced any interruption for my treatment even after I moved to another neighborhood, I have started at Ibn Batuta Branch and continue at Deira with same doctor because they have shifts on different branches at different days. I have collected prices from other clinics and they offered the best service in a reasonable price for Alignment treatment. You can choose without any hesitation.

I’m really happy with both the experience and the results of my teeth alignment treatment. My case was quite severe and the treatment lasted about a year, but Dr. Fidha was exceptional throughout—professional, knowledgeable, and consistently supportive. My go to dental clinic for any dental treatment I have had my aligners done and the transformation was amazing, Thanks to Dr. Jenny who started with me then worked with Dr. Amrita, both were very professional and know what are they doing, They follow up with me all the way for 18 months, gave full support till the end, and always ready to answer any question you have. I would also like to command Dr Anas for fixing a broken tooth i had during this period, very patient and didnt rush the treatment, untill he made sure everything was good for the next step. We have been regular visitors to Avance Dental Clinic in Deira, Dubai, and our experience has consistently been excellent. I did Damon braces with Dr. Fida and had an amazing experience. I had a crossbite, and the treatment took about a year and two months but I’d see rapid results in between each appointment. The team was always organized and made sure I never missed an appointment. The clinic was always clean and welcoming. I went in to meet with Dr Deepak today for a consultation to get Invisalign. He’s hands down the most attentive & detail oriented doctor I’ve ever met. He’s thorough, helped me carve out a plan & explained the process clearly. It’s rare to find a doctor who creates value the first time you meet them & isn’t transactional in nature. I am very much pleased with my Invisalign journey with Dr Deepak Sharma. Saw some drastic changes after 5 weeks of the treatment. Now I am down to my last 5 adjustments and the result is beyond my expectation. Plus, I did only 4 dental visits for 5.5 months. How convenient is that. Kudos!

One of the best dental clinics in Dubai with excellent doctors, very friendly and professional staff, well maintained, following proper hygiene as per covid norms and the best part is the treatment is reasonably priced. I am very happy with my dental treatment by Dr. Deepak. Along with the treatment, doctor has also explained the entire process along with the root cause of mis alignment. I came in this clinic hopeless with a very bad experience from a so called VIP Clinic. Happily, I found this dental clinic which is very welcoming and caring with their patients, starting from the reception, the nurse and the doctors. Dr. Deepak is currently doing my dental treatment and he is very professional and knows how to treat patients nicely. One thing I like about this clinic is they are not after money, their main goal is to make their patients happy and satisfied. Now I am very satisfied with the improvement of my teeth and I’m planning to do further treatments with them.
