Avance Dental Clinic, Dubai
Root canal treatment (endodontic treatment) removes infected or inflamed pulp from inside a tooth, cleans and seals the canals, and lets you keep the tooth instead of having it taken out. At Avance Dental, root canal treatment is carried out by our general dentists at our clinics in Deira, Motor City and Ibn Battuta.

Symptoms
Toothache that throbs, wakes you at night or lingers after hot or cold drinks.
Pain when biting or chewing.
Swelling of the gum or face, or a small pimple on the gum near a tooth.
A tooth that has turned darker after a knock.
A deep cavity or a cracked tooth.
Some infected teeth cause no pain at all and are found on an X-ray at a check-up.
If you have facial swelling, a fever or difficulty swallowing, call us straight away on 04 266 6022 or seek urgent care.
Step by step
We find the cause of the pain and check whether the tooth can be saved.
The tooth is numbed so the treatment feels much like having a filling.
A small opening is made in the tooth, and the infected pulp is removed. The canals are shaped and disinfected.
The canals are filled with a sealing material and the tooth is closed with a filling.
Back teeth, and teeth that have lost a lot of structure, usually need a crown afterwards to protect them from cracking.
Treatment often takes one or two visits, depending on the tooth and how severe the infection is.
The tooth may feel tender for a few days, and ordinary painkillers usually help. Avoid chewing hard food on that side until the final filling or crown is in place. Keep brushing and flossing as normal and attend your follow-up visit.
Keeping your natural tooth is usually the better choice for chewing and for keeping the teeth around it in place. If a tooth is too broken down to save, we will explain the options, including extraction followed by an implant or a bridge.
The cost depends on which tooth is treated (front teeth have fewer canals than molars) and whether you need a crown afterwards. We give you the price after the examination and X-ray, before treatment begins.
FAQ
With local anaesthetic, most patients feel little more than during a filling. The treatment relieves the pain caused by the infection.
Antibiotics can help control a spreading infection, but they cannot clean the infection from inside the tooth. The tooth still needs root canal treatment or extraction.
With a good seal, a crown where needed and regular check-ups, a root-treated tooth can last for many years.
Call or book an examination at Deira, Motor City or Ibn Battuta. We will find the cause and explain your options before any treatment.
